Scouting Programs - The Interactive History Co. offers a number of programs that work very well with both Boy Scout and Girl Scout venues. Whether it's at a Cub Pack Meeting, a Blue & Gold Dinner, or a Girl Scout or Camp Fire Overnight, our presentations are full of hands-on activities that engage and delight your scouts.
The Interactive History Co's Scouting & Knighthood Program is a perennial favorite that always impresses both scouts and parents alike.
From the Medieval Armor Try-on, to the Games that test and train you for the rigors of knighthood, to watching a full-contact and unchoreographed demonstration of armored combat, your scouts will be amazed and engaged - and ready for their training to be modern-day knights
Program Offerings: Scouting & Knighthood - This Interactive History Co. program is specifically tailored for both Boy Scout and Cub Scout groups. It is most often presented by an Interactive History Co. instructor who has participated in all levels of scouting and for at least 2 IHC instructors that includes having achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. The presentation begins with a verbal introduction comparing the ideals of Knighthood with the ideals of American Scouting and the scout laws, along with an introduction to a selection of Medieval-style games and armor, which takes ~ 20 min.
The introduction is immediately followed by an opportunity for all scouts and their families to try on the armor and play the games for a hands-on experience of those elements of Medieval life closely related to the kind of training that a young man would go through in order to become a knight. Afterward the group is brought back together for a Question & Answer period. There is also an option for the program to conclude with a Medieval-style Tournament between 2 fully armored ‘knights’ presenting a completely un-choreographed demonstration of Medieval foot-combat.
Program Fees - Scouting & Knighthood with 1 IHC Instructor-Knight: $350.00 + Travel fee
Scouting & Knighthood with 2 Instructor-knights & concluding with Tournament Demonstration: $450.00 + Travel fee
For extraordinarily large groups of 100 or more, IHC requires one of its Instructional assistants attend to help insure that all guests have access to the full range of hands-on activities. Instructional Assistant: $50.00 per 100 Guests
